On 18.09.2024, the ETH Alumni Local Group Baden met for a guided tour of the construction site of the art nouveau villa Langmatt in Baden.

On August 18, 2024, the new graduates' event of the ETH Alumni Baden chapter took place in the restaurant Roter Turm.

Twelve members met on June 20 for the traditional get-together in Baden and were able to cultivate new and old acquaintances and expand their own ETH network.

On the evening of February 16, 2024, we had the pleasure of exploring the Aargau Verkehr AG depot in Bremgarten.

On the 18th of January 2024, the members of the ETH Zurich Alumni OG Baden gathered at the Atrium Hotel Blume to ring in the new year together. In addition to a convivial New Year's aperitif, attendees were treated to a captivating talk by Ivano Somaini, a renowned expert in the field of social engineering and open source intelligence.

Nineteen members gathered for the traditional meeting in Baden on 21 September and were able to cultivate new and old acquaintances and expand their own ETH network.

From 18 to 27 August, Baden bathed in the splendour of the Badenfahrt. The motto "NEO-" not only looked back at 100 years of Badenfahrt, but also looked at the present and future perspectives.

Pascal Schwendimann studied at ETH Zurich and has recently started working as an IT consultant. Also a board member of the Baden Chapter, he talked to us about how he had to find a job during the Covid pandemic, what he learnt from launching his career and what he misses most from his time at the ETH.

Twelve members came together on 15 June for the traditional regulars' meeting in Baden and were able to cultivate new and old acquaintances and expand their own ETH network on this warm June evening.

On 25 May, we from the Baden local group had the opportunity to visit the company premises of Max Baldinger AG in Rümikon. The company has specialised in trading with wine and beverage production supplies since 1951 and has meanwhile developed into the largest online retailer in the industry. The company is managed by Regula Scheele-Baldinger and her brother Dieter Baldinger in the third generation and employs ten people.

The Baden Chapter organises a broad range of events to retain its members in the long run. An annual event for recent graduates attracts young alumni and alumnae. Board members Thomas Blättler and Sarah Ali talk to us about their work and what motivates them to do it.

What a way to start the year! Last Thursday evening in Baden, ex-ski racer Dominique Gisin told gripping and entertaining anecdotes about her sporting career. She was joined by her sports psychologist Dr. Christian Marcolli, who accompanied Gisin through the highs and lows of her career. The event was jointly organized by the OG Baden Alumni and the ETH Alumni Association.

At the statutory general meeting of Chapter Baden Alumni, the President welcomed 19 members who were entitled to vote. Afterwards, an aperitif was offered and the participants had the opportunity to network while enjoying dinner.

On 15 September, eleven members attended the traditional regulars’ table. They were not to regret it, as our member Magdolna Keel showed us a few pictures and cards from her many years as a painter and talked about her eventful life.

On 18 August, the Chapter Baden Alumni is organising a networking event for recent ETH graduates living in the greater Baden region and the entire canton of Aargau. Board member, Andi Christen, tells us what prompted the group to organise the event.

On 23 June 2022, alumnae and alumni of Chapter Baden met for a wine tasting organized by Regula Scheele at Cortis in the wonderful old town of Baden. The general premise was that of a convivial evening, which alone would have been a great thing and much appreciated by many people after the pandemic. But it turned out to be an evening with way more facets - like a complex wine.  

Finally, we had the pleasure to meet up again for our traditional regulars’ table in Baden. Six members followed the invitation.

On August 12, 2021, the third new graduates' event of the Chapter Baden Alumni took place. After a short welcome speech of the event organiser, Sarah Ali, board member of the chapter, all participants could enjoy the warm summer evening with a tasty dinner and interesting conversations.

On 24 July 2021, the long wait during the various phases of Corona-restrictions finally came to an end. 30 members of the chapter Baden met in the early evening at the Grand Casino Baden to be introduced to gaming theory and to put the theory into practice right away. The fact that the last ones did not start their way home until midnight illustrates how people were longing for social events of this kind.

ETH alumna Regula Scheele graduated in agricultural sciences. Even as a child, she was interested in the French language and agriculture. She has combined her two passions and after a lengthy stay in Welschland, today she and her brother manage a family-run business selling all conceivable wine cellar equipment and supplies. She has been a member of the board of the local Baden alumni group since 2018.

Ten alumni met for the first regulars’ table after the initial Corona interventions and enjoyed a unhurried dinner together in Baden.

The beautiful story continues; the networking event in Baden. On 13 August 2020, a refreshing and unhurried meeting took place for the second time in the beautiful garden of the Rebstock in the old town of Baden.

Approximately 30 alumni met on Castle Wildegg to a guided tour from ProSpecieRara on 25 June 2020. Under bright blue sky, ETH Alumni Philipp Holzherr led first through the castle's garden. Then we were able to visit the seed nursery. The apéro took place between greenhouses and garden beds, a successful evening coming to an unhurried end.

ETH Alumni Chapter Baden met for the traditional New Year’s Apéro at Villa Boveri on January 16, 2020. OG Baden’s president, Dr. Thomas Blättler, welcomed all members who attended in large numbers and gave a short review on 2019 as well as a presentation of this year’s program that includes three further events and also four “Stämme”. As usual, all participants started the year at the Villa’s summerhouse and this time again, they were able to listen to an interesting talk ran by Dr. Christian Brönnimann.

For the last "Badener Stamm" this year, 14 Alumni met for a cosy dinner in Baden on November 14, 2019.

On September 6, 2019, the first new graduates event of the Alumni Chapter Baden took place. After a short welcome speech of Dr. Claudine Blaser Egger, Member of the Board of Regionalwerke AG Baden, everyone was welcomed to enjoy a tasty barbecue with beer and interesting conversations in the sunset.

About 40 ETH Alumni of the Alumni Chapter Baden and guests of other Chapters met on May 16, 2019, at the Paul Scherrer Institute in Villigen to experience why the PSI, which operates with large facilities, seems to be the last hope to some people.

On January 17, 2019, the Alumni Chapter Baden traditionally met at the Villa Boveri. The president, Thomas Blättler, could welcome to the stage a constructor of a special kind – Simon Libsig. He entertained the 100 attendees with rhymes of four dozens pharmaceuticals without drawing breath, or so it seemed. Back in the days, he would have been called a lyricist; nowadays he is called a slam poet

On November 15, around 30 ETH Alumni met at Du Parc in Baden for a presentation of the ETH spin-off Climeworks. The technology corporation was founded in 2009 and has both a bold and clear vision: They want to capture 1% of the global CO2-emissions until 2025.

On September 6, 2018, 16 members of the OG Baden Alumni met for a tour through the ABB Micafil in Zürich-Altstetten.

On 7 June 2018, 15 Alumni of the Ortsgruppe Baden met at the Hotel DuParc in Baden in order to hold their member assembly that had become necessary due to various elections.

On 18 January 2018, the OG Baden Alumni met at the Villa Boveri. President Jürg Suhner was delighted to have been able to invite Philip Mosimann, a top-class expert from the Swiss industrial landscape, as the event’s speaker. The former CEO of Bucher Industries and president of the board of directors, who is also the vice president of Swissmem, presented an interesting overview of the current and future challenges and opportunities of the Swiss industrial sector.

Einen guten Monat vor Weihnachten begrüsste Dr. Hans-Martin Niederer zum letzten Höhepunkt des Ortsgruppe Baden Alumni-Jahres im Atrium Hotel Blume im Bäderquartier. Die Protagonisten des Abends, Ständerätin Pascale Bruderer und Landammann Stephan Attiger, vermochten erwartungsgemäss den Saal zu füllen und – so viel vorweg – sie hielten gut, was man sich vom Anlass versprach.

Anlässlich der alle zehn Jahre stattfindenden «Badenfahrt» traf sich am 24. August 2017 der Badener Stamm» der Ortsgruppe Baden Alumni in der Festbeiz des Feuerwehrvereins Baden. Die 30 Plätze waren alle belegt und das obligate Bier floss ab der ersten Minute. Eine bunte Mischung von jungen und älteren Alumni verbrachte ein geselliges Abendessen und die meisten zogen danach weiter und genossen die Feststimmung.

Am 19. Januar lud die Ortgruppe Baden Alumni zum traditionellen Neujahrsapéro ein. Der Gartensaal der Villa Boveri war bis zum letzten Platz gefüllt. Auf dem Programm stand neben dem Apéro auch ein Vortrag von Rudolf Hug, welcher die Teilnehmer auf eine Fotoreise rund um den Globus mitnahm.
