AIV Alumni fondue evening at the “Dozentenfoyer”

On Thursday, 17 November 2022, 51 ETH civil engineers gathered at the restaurant “Dozentenfoyer” for the annual fondue evening. A relaxed atmosphere, good mood and the delicious fondue prepared by the SV Catering will remain in good memory and the event has duly heralded this year's Christmas dinners.

On 26 March, the AIV Alumni reception was held online for the first time. 56 people attended and listened to Prof. Dr. Daniel Hall's presentation on "Industrialized Construction".
Women in focus - The GDK "did it her way”

The first online event "I do it my way" by the Gender and Diversity Committee of the D-BAUG was a complete success! Around 200 participants took part in the exchange with five female engineers on current topics relating to gender equality.
Civil Engineering FORUM 2020

For the seventh time now, the Civil Engineering FORUM took place on November 12th, 2020. This year, however, it took place for the first time online. The Civil Engineering FORUM 2020 was not only an informational event with interesting presentations about practical work experiences. The forum also offered the opportunity for an exchange during the subsequent digital aperitif in various breakout rooms.

ETH Alumnus Andreas Dudas is a civil engineering graduate. These days, he works as a business alchemist and helps people and companies find their vocation or uniqueness. Even though his career has changed course completely, he still benefits from his time at ETH. In our interview, he talks about how he had to learn to reflect on his purpose and play on his strengths. He firmly believes that setbacks have helped shape his success.

On Thursday, 14th November 2019, 28 hungry civil engineers met at ETH main building to enjoy the yearly fondue chat. It was this year’s last event of the AIV Alumni. Good memories of the nice company, the excellent catering and the imposing views over Zurich from the “Dozentenfoyer’s” terraces.
Visit of NEST at EMPA Dübendorf

On Thursday, September 12, 2019, the second anniversary event of AIV Alumni took place. The attending 38 alumni visited NEST (Next Evolution in Sustainable building Technologies) at EMPA Dübendorf to learn more about sustainable technologies and construction techniques.
Festive colloquium in honor of Prof. Dr. Mario Fontana

On Monday, September 9, 2019, the festive colloquium in honor of Prof. Dr. Mario Fontana (Institute of Structural Engineering IBK) took place at the Main Building of ETH. Many colleagues of his various fields of activity gathered to celebrate the 65th birthday together with him and to toast his retirement.
Contact meeting Hönggerberg 2019

On Thursday, April 11, 2019, the 27th edition of the Contact Meeting Hönggerberg (KTH) took place on the Piazza of the Campus Hönggerberg. As in previous years, the job fair for civil engineers was a great success.
The students of the AIV celebrate the beginning of spring

On Thursday, May 16, 2019, the annual spring party of the AIV took place. The weather played along, the guest list was fully booked and the suckling pig was cooked to perfection. Once more, the celebration turned out to be a great success.
Civil Engineer FORUM 2019

For the sixth time now, the Civil Engineer FORUM took place on May 2nd, 2019, at ETH Hönggerberg. The Civil Engineer FORUM 2019 was not only an informational event with interesting presentations about practical work experiences. The forum also offered the opportunity for an exchange during the subsequent aperitif. Over 100 civil engineers of three distinct educational institutions and 28 different companies participated in the event.
AIV Alumni invited to the alumni apero

On 12th April, ETH civil engineers met at Hönggerberg to the annual alumni apero of AIV Alumni and the faculty association of AIV civil engineers. The evening’s aim was the exchange between students and alumni as well as looking into current ETH’s research topics. A rich apero buffet and the Loch Ness bar gave the event a social ending.

On Friday Ocotber 5, 2018 the Loch Ness invited all its friends to its 50 year jubilee. With the nice weather and all the students and Alumni who came, everything was set for a good evening. It was a night with lots of familiar faces and with good memories of all the attendees.

At the beginning of May 2018, the annual civil engineer FORUM for women took place for the fifth time with a little more than 100 participants, about 20 more as in the previous year.
Kontakttreffen Hönggerberg 2018

On Thursday 12 April 2018, the annual Kontakttreffen Hönggerberg, which has taken place since 1990, was held in the Piazza of the Hönggerberg.

On 16 March, the annual meeting of the AIV Alumni took place. Invited was a group of approx. 130 alumni in addition to a list of current students.

Weinreise in die Bündner Herrschaft

Am 26. August 2017 machten sich elf AIV Alumni und zwei Bauingenieur-Studenten auf den Weg in die schöne Bündner Herrschaft, um mehr über die Winzerarbeiten zu lernen. Neben köstlichem Wein erfuhren die Alumni allerlei Wissenswertes über den Rebbau.
BauingenieurinnenFORUM 2017

Das BauingenieurinnenFORUM fand Anfang Mai bereits zum vierten Mal statt. Beim jährlich durchgeführten Anlass handelt es sich um eine Info- und Networkingveranstaltung von und für Frauen und bietet damit eine optimale Plattform, wo sich Bauingenieurinnen ungezwungen austauschen können. Am diesjährigen Event nahmen etwas mehr als 80 Studentinnen, Doktorandinnen und Professorinnen sowie Bauingenieurinnen aus der Praxis teil.

ETH Alumna Andrea Wyler studierte Bauingenieurswissenschaften an der ETH Zürich. Nach ihrem Masterabschluss 2009 stieg sie bei Emch+Berger AG Bern als Bauingenieurin ein, wo sie noch heute tätig ist. Wir sprachen mit Andrea Wyler über ihre Zeit an der ETH, wie sie ihren Einstieg ins Berufsleben erlebt hat und was sie jungen Absolvent/-innen der Bauingenieurwissenschaften raten würde, die auf Stellensuche sind.
AIV Alumni lud zum Ehemaligenapéro

Am 7. April trafen sich auf dem Hönggerberg die ETH-Bauingenieure zum Ehemaligenapéro des AIV Alumni und der Studierendenorganisation AIV mit dem Ziel, aktuelle und ehemalige Studienkollegen unter sich zu vernetzen und eine Brücke zur Alma Mater zu schlagen. Das Programm beinhaltete eine Führung im „Arch Tech Lab“ sowie einen Vortrag von Frau Prof. Dr. Eleni Chatzi vom Institut für Baustatik und Konstruktion (IBK) und schloss mit einem geselligen Teil für den Austausch unter den Teilnehmenden.
