VIP CERN Tour

Meyrin Esplanade des Particules 1 1217 Meyrin We invite you to join your fellow alumni on a VIP visit to CERN on January 18th, 2025. We will have a guided tour of the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment where we will access the CMS detector at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). At 27 kilometres, the LHC is the largest and most powerful particle accelerator ever built. Access to the detector is only possible once a year, when CERN is undergoing maintenance. The CMS experiment is one of the largest international scientific collaborations in history involving over 5’500 scientists and engineers. The research conducted ranges from the Standard Model (including the Higgs boson) to searching for extra dimensions and particles that could make up dark matter. AGENDA: Registration, lunch at CERN Cafeteria (at own expense), travel by bus to CMS for tour, Science Gateway. 17:00 End of official program at CERN 17:00 onwards – Apéro at nearby location IMPORTANT: 1 - CERN requires all participants to adhere to their Safety Rules (link).
