Part 1: From ETH Zürich to São Paulo – Mapping the Brain & Connecting Global Innovation

ETH alumnus Benjamin Bollmann has taken an unconventional path—from skateboarding in Switzerland to neuroscience at MIT, and now leading Swissnex in Brazil. In this special two-part episode, we explore his journey and the impact of Swissnex, Switzerland’s global network for science and innovation.

During his time at ETH Zurich, Benjamin discovered a passion for neuroscience, leading him to MIT, where he used AI to map the brain’s intricate networks. But his curiosity didn’t stop there. Today, as CEO of Swissnex Brazil, he connects Swiss science, research, and startups with the world, fostering collaboration across disciplines and borders.

What makes science so exciting? Benjamin shares how his experiences—from ETH to MIT to São Paulo—shaped his perspective on innovation, creativity, and why science is actually really cool.

This is Part 1 of a two-part conversation. Stay tuned for Part 2, where we shift the focus to Swissnex’s role in global climate action and COP30.
