Francesca studied “International relations” at the University of Trieste in Italy. She then obtained an MA in “South Asian Area Studies”, focusing on politics, law and anthropology, and a PhD in history from the School of Oriental and African Studies in London, where she was co-founder and joint head of the Muslim South Asia Research Forum (MUSA), an international network and event platform for young researchers. Between 2018 and 2022, she worked at the University of Bern, firstly as a post doc and then as a lecturer. Here, she curated the media presence of the Institute of History before founding and managing the institute’s first series of podcasts.

Francesca will also collaborate with national as well as international ETH student organisations and ETH departments with the aim of strengthening links between them and the ETH alumni member organisations. Furthermore, she will analyse the needs of our members and member organisations and develop strategies for bolstering active and successful community life.

“As Community Engagement Manager for the ETH Alumni Association, I will strive to strengthen the bonds linking ETH with its alumni and alumnae in Switzerland and around the world. I view the Alumni Association as key to ETH’s presence on the global stage. I also consider it a driving force in promoting networks and the transfer of knowledge. I am delighted to be part of this fantastic team and I’m also pleased to be taking on this exciting role at such a renowned university.”

The ETH Alumni Association is looking forward to this expert assistance and extends a warm welcome to Francesca!
