Fascinating input regarding LinkedIn and inspiring conversations
Last Monday evening, around 30 people met at the ETH Alumni Forum in the Alumni Pavilion. Read on to discover more about the programme and what some of the attendees have to say about the event.
Last Monday evening, around 30 people attended the forum in the Alumni Pavilion. The President, Walter Gränicher, welcomed the attendees. Isabel Sauter, Managing Director of the ETH Alumni Association, then presented the results of a survey on various communication topics to the board members. Thomas Hutter, CEO of Hutter Consult and a renowned social media marketing expert, spoke about the opportunities and challenges of companies and associations using LinkedIn for communication purposes.
In the discussion session which followed, Caroline Hulliger, a senior consultant and board member at CRK, and Thomas Hutter talked more about LinkedIn and other topics; moderated by ETH Alumni board member Jeannine Pilloud. This was followed by discussions amongst the attendees in small groups. The topics for discussion were based on in-depth questions relating to the survey results: event communication of affiliate organisations, communication channels and contents for the Alumni Association as well as exchanges between alumni organisations and the corresponding student associations and ETH departments. Following the presentation of the group results in the plenum, the evening was rounded off with aperitifs and stimulating talk. We are already looking forward to the next forum!
Here are some comments about the event:
“The forum was very varied and the small-group discussions were very stimulating,” stressed Anna Bock, HST alumna. “I am relatively new to the alumni so I really enjoyed talking to the other board members in well moderated small groups.”
Christopher Signer, IAETH alumnus, added: “The discussion session involving Thomas Hutter, Jeannine Pilloud and Caroline Hulliger on various communication topics was very interesting. There were lots of questions from the audience. I think everyone took away useful tips from the event and was able to benefit from other people’s experiences.”
“I got some fascinating input into LinkedIn and communication in general,” commented Rolf Moser, biotech alumnus. “I would be delighted if the suggestions made by the board members present could be incorporated into the work of the office.”
