ETH Alumni Chapter Singapore met with two Swiss celebrities in their Stammbeiz “Nasi Lemak Kukus”

Chapter Singapore Alumni

Recently Prof. em. Ulrich Suter was awarded Singapore’s honorary citizenship. This rare honour was given by former President Tony Tan to him for his contributions to Science. Ulrich Suter now acts as a trustee of the Singapore National Research Foundation. He had been instrumental in setting up the Singapore ETH Centre. Members of the Alumni Singapore Chapter met with him and another Swiss celebrity in their Stammbeiz “Nasi Lemak Kukus”.

Singapur

At our dinner at the Michelin-recognized “Nasi Lemak Kukus” in Selegie Road we met with another Swiss celebrity, Bruno Wildermuth. He was the one who had convinced Singpore’s founder Mr. Lee Kuan Yew to build an MRT system instead of a bus only public transport system. Bruno, a graduate from Stanford, joined Alumni Chapter Singapore when it was founded in July 2010.

Good food in good company

Despite torrential rain in the afternoon, Nasi Lemak Kukus was the ideal meeting point. Their specialty is steamed rice with fried chicken wings and many other local delicacies. Alumni Chapter Singapore had chosen this venue for our “Stammbeiz” in the city. This is near Little India and the popular electronic city of Sim Lim, the haven in Singapore for computer and camera geeks.
