The temperature in Shanghai was still high on a late August evening, just like alumni’s passion for gathering together. After a long break of all kinds of events due to Covid, alumni members from ETH and UZH Zurich met for a badminton evening at Jing’an Gymnasium, which is located in the heart of Shanghai. With the presence of a professional coach, alumni and alumnae first learned basic rules of badminton double game, then split into three groups of four people and started the game. For some alumni, it was the first time they played badminton in a team since the graduation of college; while other alumni turned out to be talented badminton players who practice almost every month.
The high temperature was challenging for the game, after two hours of non-stop playing, the participants were ready for some refreshing drinks and snacks. The group ended the evening in a nearby bar with great conversations, reminiscing about the cool Zurich weather, strengthening old ties, and building new connections.
We look forward to organizing more activities for the ever-expanding ETH Alumni Shanghai network and to strengthen our ties with other Swiss Alumni Chapters by organizing more joint events – more to follow, stay tuned.
