Virtuelle Generalversammlung 2021 vom Chapter Singapur Alumni
Chapter Singapur Alumni

After 2020, another virtual annual general meeting was held this year, just after Singapore went into heightened alert with tightened restrictions limiting group sizes from five persons to two.
Encouraging number of members
After the opening of the AGM by president Felix Kottmann, the overview about the chapter and its activities showed, that despite the pandemic and all related restrictions, the chapter is still strong in members and activities. The membership was just down to 88 from 96 in 2020, which marked an all-time high in membership.
Innovative events
The overview about last year’s activities showed that due to the pandemic, the usual activities – always involving physical gatherings – were not possible. However, the chapter was innovative and introduced virtual events, for example to discuss the Asia activities of ETH Zurich together with president Prof. Dr. Joël Mesot. Further new formats were short videos of ETH Alumni in Singapore, introducing their activities in the Lion City and their ETH background.
Prospects
For further activities, small group meetings are planned, especially together with the Alumni chapters of the University of Zurich, University St. Gallen and École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne. Another prospective event – of course in addition to the annual Raclette – will be the visit of the newly opened campus of École hôtelière de Lausanne.
Board elected
Before the AGM, our vice president Aurel von Richthofen, who had been on the board since 2019, announced that he would be stepping down as he and his family plan to re-locate to Europe. Aurel has been working with the Singapore-ETH Centre for many years and has been responsible to launch the first edition of the ETH month in 2019. He further made many contributions to the strategic development of the chapter. At this point, we want to say a big thank you to Aurel and wish him all the best in Europe!
Luckily, Teddy Low agreed to take on the position as vice president. Congratulations!
We are planning to extend our activities and always welcome contributions of our members. We therefore extended the board by one position and are happy to welcome Christoph Kanzler as a board member.
The remaining board appears unchanged this year with Felix Kottmann serving now a third term as a president, Stefan Altmann as secretary, Clayton Miller as treasurer, and Hortense Le Ferrand and Hans Jäger as board members.
